MIFCO was started in 1938 as a supplier of foundry equipment to the vocational field. Early features that set MIFCO apart from competitors were the attention to safety and the ability to get quick melts. All MIFCO gas-fired crucible melters come equipped with an Ultra-Violet Flame Safeguard System and high temperature refractory brick or Ceramic Fiber linings. Modern temperature control features have also been incorporated on many models. With melt capacities ranging from ounces to thousands of pounds, MIFCO has become a leading manufacturer of crucible melting equipment.

MIFCO also manufactures a complete line of safety crucible handling equipment, sand mullers and mixers, vibratory riddles and pyrometers. A complete line of foundry safety apparel, vocational molders benches and tools, silicon carbide and clay graphite crucibles, and other foundry accessories are also stocked and available for quick shipment.

During World War II, MIFCO began a commercial heat treating operation for almost two decades. This gave us invaluable experience in designing rugged heat treating equipment. Today MIFCO is a leading supplier of tool room and research furnaces and ovens, and also offers production heat treating and vacuum tool room furnaces on a custom built basis.

In addition to furnaces, MIFCO manufactures a rugged line of oil, water and polymer quench tanks.
